Copper half Chuckram of Travancore

The royal family of Travancore were the great devotees of Lord Vishnu, they issued many coins depicting Vishnu on it. This copper coin was issued in the reign of Sree Mulam Thriunal Rama Varma depicts the attributed ornament of Lord Vishnu like Conch shell and Sudarshan.The obverse of this coin depicts a conch with six spines with the legend in Malayalam ‘Ara chuckram’ within the dotted and line border. The reverse of this coin depicts a decorated Sudarsana chakram in the centre within the line and dotted circle.
This coin is very rare and extremely fine specimen from the Travancore coinage.
