Silver rupee of Manipur

Manipur was an independent state situated in the north-eastern part of India. This state came under British protection around 1891. It was one of the last independent states to incorporate into British India.The above-shown silver square rupee was issued under the reign of Chaurajit Simha of Manipur. The obverse of this coin depicts legend in four lines inscribed in Devanagari script, it reads ‘Sriman Manipureshvara Sri Chaurajitasimha Nrupavarasya Shake, AH 1732’ within the line border. The reverse of this coin depicts legend in four lines inscribed in Devanagari script, it reads ‘Sri Mad Radha Govinda Padaravinda Makaranda Mano Madhukarasya’ within the line border.
This is very fine+ and an extremely rare coin was auctioned by the Todywalla auction for the estimated price of INR 250,000 to 3, 00,000.
