New Portuguese Coins Celebrate 250th Anniversary of the National Press

The 250th anniversary of the National Press was celebrated by the Central Bank of Portugal with the release of a new €2 circulating coin on 22nd May. The coins would be made available to the public through the bank’s credit and treasury institutions.The common obverse side features the European Map with denomination 2 Euro and the 12 stars of European Union. The reverse features the year dates marking the 250th anniversary of National Press “1768-2018” along with other inscriptions like “National Press”, “Two Hundred and Fifty”, “250 Years”, “Portugal” and “MMXVIII”. The author’s name and the legend “INCM” is inscribed on the lower border. 12 stars of the European Union are depicted on the coin’s outer ring. The coin has a mintage limit of 500,000 pieces with a normal finish.
