Maharani Ayilyom Thirunal Gaouri Lakshmi Bayi was the Maharani of the Travancore Princely State from 1810 CE till 1813 CE. She gained the reputation of Travancore’s most popular Queen as she introduced several reforms in the state administration as well as in its coinage and currency.This beautiful gold Anantha Varahan which weighs around 3.38g was introduced by Maharani. The obverse of the coin bears the standing Vishnu holding the Shankha and Chakra in his hand and flanked by two lotus springs below within a dotted circle.
This outstanding piece was sold for INR 1,95,000 by Toddywalla Auctions.
