New Postage Stamps Commemorate Bangladesh’s 48th Independence Day

The 48th Independence Day of Bangladesh was celebrated with the release of a commemorative postage stamp, a first-day cover and a data card by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday. All these items are now available at the Philatelic Bureau of Dhaka. They will be soon available at other GPOs and head post offices across Bangladesh. Another set of the same philatelic items were released by Unesco as part of the world’s documentary heritage to mark the historic speech given on 7th March by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.The first-day covers of Tk10 each and the data cards of Tk5 each were officially released at Prime Minister’s Ganabhaban residence in Dhaka. Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister, ministry’s Secretary and Director General of Bangladesh Post Office were also present at the event. Special cancellers were made available in four GPOs for the first-day covers.
