Stamps on International Fleet Review

A commemorative stamp was issued on 6th Feb 2016 featuring International Fleet Review (IFR). In addition to the stamps, a first day cover and a brochure was also released.President of India Shri Pranab Mukherji released the stamp at Vishakhapattanam.
Naval Fleet Review is a regular affair with Indian Navy. On this grand occasion IFR 16, 52 countries participated with their ships and other naval assets.
The President of India, being the Supreme Commander of Indian Armed forces, conducts the review at least once during his tenure. The 2016 review was the 11th review held at Vishakhapattanam, at the east coast. On the occasion of each review, it is customary to release stamps.
The stamp with face value of Rs.5, features Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya, a submarine and a MiG29 K fighter plane beautifully depicted on a beautiful blue background of sky and ocean, representing three arms of Indian Navy
The first Fleet review of India was held in 1984 by President Mr. Zail Singh.
