Canada Post Pays Tribute to Construction Battalion of WWI

New commemorative stamp released by Canadian Post features soldiers of No.2 Construction Battalion that participated in World War – I.The year 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the creation of the No. 2 Construction Battalion consisting mainly African American Soldiers. It was the first large African - American military unit in Canadian history.
The soldiers contributed greatly to the victory in the First World War. Thus Canada Post is honouring its soldiers on a new stamp.
The stamp features an archival photograph in the foreground which depicts the faces of some members of the unit. Below, silhouettes of the soldiers are depicted.
All of this is shown on the background of pine trees. On left side of the stamp “No. 2 Construction Battalion” is inscribed in English as well as in French.
