Kapil Dev, a man who made India proud during the 1983 World Cup and led his team to championship, broke the world record of the most number of test wickets on this day, 8th February in the year 1994.

Kapil Dev is undoubtedly one of the greatest all-rounders in the world of cricket and was named ‘Indian Cricketer of the Century’ by Wisden in 2002. He was a right-arm pace bowler known for his graceful action and deadly outswingers which fetched him most of his wickets. Later in 1980’s he developed a skill to produce inswinging yorkers which he effectively used to knock down tail-enders. Apart from that, he was a brilliant striker of the ball and often helped India in difficult situations with his aggressive game-play. He retired in 1994 after breaking the record for taking the most number of test wickets.

Kapil Dev is featured on a 75 c stamp issued by St. Vincent where he is holding his pose after striking his attacking long-drive.
