Britain’s most loved book, Pride and Prejudice on Royal Mail Stamps

Pride and Prejudice, a Jane Austen book that made millions of readers across the globe spell-bound with its heart-touching story for over 2 centuries, celebrated its 203rd anniversary of its publication, yesterday, 28th Jan 2016.In 2013, Royal Mail released a six-stamp set to commemorate the work of one of Britain’s greatest writers, Jane Austen. Each of these six stamps is dedicated to one of her six published novels. Illustrator Angela Barrett has beautifully portrayed key scenes from these novels on these stamps.
These are not the first Royal Mail stamps to commemorate Jane Austen’s work. A set of four stamps was issued in 1975 as well to mark the author’s birth bicentenary. One of which has an illustration of Mr. Darcy, the central character from her book Pride and Prejudice.
Another stamp which had illustrations of characters from the legendary book Pride and Prejudice was the one that was issued by a country located amongst the other Caribbean nations - St Vincent and the Grenadines.
