Philatelic Highlights From the Rasdale Auction in Chicago

A public auction will be held on 19th and 20th August by Rasdale Stamp Co in Chicago. Various stamps from different parts of the world will be offered at the auction at exciting rates.

A 1908 20-shilling emerald postage due stamp from Australia is being offered in unused condition with original gum. The stamp has a market value of $29,000. It is perf. 11 20sh and is a key stamp of Australia. It has an opening bid of $5,000 only.

The small Commonwealth colony of Gibraltar began issuing stamps in 1886. The 1925 £5 dull violet and black King George V stamp on chalk-surfaced paper is being offered in unused, never-hinged, fine-very fine condition. The stamp has a market value of $1,750 but an opening bid of $375.

Other highlights include unused Zeppelins in sets and singles. A 1917 pane of 30 1¢ green George Washington stamps from the A.E.F. booklet, position I, is offered never-hinged condition. Six examples from the 1926 Battle of White Plains 25-stamp souvenir sheet are being offered in intact and never-hinged condition.
