Disney Villains on Stamps!

2017-07-18 Tue

All of us grew up watching the Disney cartoons, stories, and movies. We loved their heroes/heroines and the villains alike. Disney Villains played a vital role in all of the shows and we just loved to hate them!

Having been around for more than 80 years, Disney has brought to life more than 125 different villains from films, TV series, video games, books and the Disney theme parks. Whether in animated movies or books, the villain has always fought the hero/heroine or just made their life miserable. They made us cry and cringe in our seats, they scared us. And yet we have grown to love them. They are unforgettable!

Everyone has their favourite Disney villain. Here’s a good news: 10 of the most beloved of the Disney evil-doers or villains have appeared on Forever Stamps by the U.S. Postal Service!

A sheet of 10 stamps was issued on 15th July during a Disney fan event at the Anaheim, California Convention Centre. These stamps designed by Art director Derry Noyes of Washington, D.C feature:

The Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
Honest John, from Pinocchio (1940),
Lady Tremaine, from Cinderella (1950),
The Queen of Hearts, from Alice in Wonderland (1951),
Captain Hook, from Peter Pan (1953),
Maleficent, from Sleeping Beauty (1959),
Cruella De Vil, from One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961),
Ursula, from The Little Mermaid (1989),
Gaston, from Beauty and the Beast (1991), and
Scar, from The Lion King (1994).

These stamps were issued as a tribute to the artists who worked tirelessly in the Ink and Paint Division of Disney, hand drawing each and every movement and expression! Their dedication and passion gave us our beautiful and colourful childhood! Cheers to all those artists.

Go on...grab your childhood and once again get lost in the world of Disney with these amazing stamps!
