Today is the 116th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He was an Indian nationalist, who will always be engraved in the hearts of every true Indian.He was the President of Indian National Congress in 1938 and 1939. With the Japanese support, Bose organised the Indian National Army (INA) and he is also credited with creating popular Indian slogans, such as "Jai Hind,"—and the INA under Bose was a model of diversity by region, ethnicity, religion, and even gender.
Netaji is honoured in a set of four commemorative stamps issued by Mozambique, featuring the legendary Indian figures of the 20th century. He has been honoured on various Indian stamps as well.
A 15 Naya Paise stamp was released on 23rd January 1964 to celebrate his birth anniversary. On the same day, an orange-coloured 55 Naya Paisa stamp was also released. A one rupee postage stamp was released in 1997 on his birth anniversary. A one rupee definitive stamp was released in 2001 on his birth anniversary. A five rupees definitive stamp was issued on 10th April 2016. A 20 paisa stamp commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Azad Hind Government under the leadership of Subhas Chandra Bose was released on 21st October 1968.
