The UN would be celebrating International Day of Yoga on 21st June by releasing a pane of 10, $1.15 stamps and se-tenant labels. These stamps will be used at the U.N. headquarters in New York City.

The selvage of the pane features a 2016 picture of the headquarters building decorated for the International Day of Yoga. Stamps depict various yoga postures or asanas. “om” in Devanagari script is written on the labels. International Day of Yoga was started in 2015 by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, who made this suggestion at the U.N. General Assembly in September 2014. Since 21st June is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and is special for many and it was chosen to observe this day.

Yoga takes a holistic approach towards health and well-being by uniting the body and mind; thought and action. The resolution for introducing such a day was supported by record-breaking 175 member states at the UN.
