Rare 1935 Bank of Canada $25 note Sold for $49,200

Geoffrey Bell Auctions sold a French version of the 1935 Bank of Canada $25 note, graded Choice Uncirculated 64 with serial number 000005 for $49,200 at Toronto Coin Expo on 1st and 2nd June. The note belonged to the Covered Bridge Collection which is made of 2,000 bank notes that were safe inside a New Brunswick deposit box since the 1980s.Eight 1935 notes with serial number 000005 in denominations from $2 to $50 were offered. Two series of Canadian notes were issued in 1935. One had the text “Bank of Canada” for English Canada, and the other had “Banque Du Canada” for French Canada.
