Canada releases new commemorative $10 Banknotes to celebrate the country’s 150th Anniversary. New security features like the colour-shifting image of an arch in the Memorial Chamber at Parliament Hill and three-dimensional maple leaves are included in these notes. These features are easy to verify and difficult to duplicate.

The banknote’s design tries to depict Canada’s strengths, diversity and a hope for a better tomorrow. The note features four significant personalities who contributed towards the country’s parliamentary history namely: Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada's first prime minister; Sir George-Etienne Cartier, the founder of Canadian federalism; Agnes Macphail, the first woman elected to the Canadian House of Commons; and James Gladston0e, the first senator of First Nations origin.

The design also recreates an artwork called Owl's Bouquet by Kenojuak Ashevak. The note also has an arrow sash pattern which represents Canada remembering the French-Canadian voyageurs of the 18th century. The reverse features famous landscapes like Lions/Twin Sisters, a wheat field, the Canadian Shield, Cape Bonavista and the northern lights.

The notes are available at financial institutions. It does not replace the current polymer series $10 note but is equal in value. This is the fourth commemorative note that the country has released.
