Public Angry at Prettier Looking Author Jane Austin Portrait on Latest Banknotes of England

2017-06-05 Mon

After an outrage against the Central Bank of England for using animal fat in its latest polymer £5 note, there is some more bad news that followed. Many biographers, historians and Austen fans are now unhappy about the fact that the portrait of Great writer Jane Austen on the new yet-to-be-released £10 note looks more like a Disney Princess. The note will be officially released on the 200th anniversary of the great writer on 18th July this year.

The portrait on the new note is taken from an original 1870 Jane Austin portrait which is now showcased at London’s National Gallery. This portrait was adapted from an original sketch drawn by the author’s sister Cassandra in 1810. The original portrait has a pointed chin, thin lips, chubby cheeks and baggy eyes. The image on the new note makes her look much more attractive with sparkling eyes and a beautiful smile. The Central bank has not released any statements in response to this issue.
