Rare Elias Boudinot-Signed Note to be Auctioned

A rare four-pence note featuring the personal signature of Elias Boudinot on the obverse will be offered at Early American History Auctions on 16th and 17th June at an estimate of $1,500 to $2,000. The note was signed by him on 16th December 1790 when Elias Boudinot was the president of the First Presbyterian Church in Newark, N.J. He signed it five years before he was appointed as the third director of the US Mint by President George Washington in 1795. The note is graded PCGS Currency Very Fine 25 and was once a part of Eric P. Newman Collection.Other highlights at the sale include five rare examples of a John Gault, Ribbed Frame 24-cent encased postage stamp and a 1783 doubled-headed George Washington cent token.
