2017-05-19 Fri
A special one-ounce silver bullion medallion celebrating the 100th anniversary of the famous “I Want You for U.S. Army” poster featuring Uncle Sam would be released by Dillon Gage Metals. For the first time ever, this image will be featured on a .999 fine silver coin. The medal in a way pays tribute all the military forces which have stood up and shown their mettle in times of trouble. The poster was first issued by the United States during World War I after a war was declared against Germany. Famous 40-year-old magazine illustrator James Montgomery Flagg had designed it. 4 million posters were put up all around the country.
The same poster design was used by the US during World War II as well. It worked very well for increasing military power and was appreciated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
