The Pobjoy Mint has publically announced the release of the largest coin they have struck till today. They have minted a 100oz .999 Fine Silver High Relief Proof Coin issued by the British Virgin Islands. On the coin, Kennedy’s portrait is featured with the date 1917 to the left and 2017 to the right. Also, there is a privy mark to the lower left of the coin; it showcases a 1?2 ct heart-shaped cluster of purple diamonds hand set into the coin in honour of the Purple Heart JFK was awarded for his military service.

To those who didn’t know, John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States of America, therefore the mintage of this coin stops at 35. Also, he was one of the most popular presidents of America and the 100oz of silver represents his 100th anniversary. The collectors of numismatics find the coin to be fascinating as its size is large, but getting their hands on this valuable coin seems difficult because the production is scarce.

Born in May 1917, John Fitzgerald Kennedy spent the first 10 years of his life in Boston and then he along with his family migrated to Bronx where he completed his middle school years.

Kennedy went on to study at the London School of Economics and Harvard University; where the seeds of his political career were sown. His military career from 1941 to 1945 was magnificent and he served in the WW2 and the Pacific War. Courage was in his blood and it was showcased during one of the past events where Kennedy not only had to save his crew but also help an injured comrade by putting him to safety at a nearby island. For his service, he was awarded numerous medals, including the Purple Heart.

He served the nation from January 1961, until his assassination on November 22. It was because of his strong character; many loved him and were influenced by him, home and abroad. He was part of some important events, including the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Bay of Pigs invasion, the nuclear test ban treaty, the establishment of the Peace Corps, developments in the Space Race, the building of the Berlin Wall, the Trade Expansion Act to lower tariffs, and the Civil Rights Movement.

There are many arguments related to the assassination of JFK. But the official report is that he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald, a lone gunman.
