200th Anniversary of Dutch Gold Ducat

The 200th anniversary of the current Dutch gold ducat was celebrated by releasing a special coin featuring the original 1817 design. The single Ducat for 2017 features the thin, armoured knight and the dual dates 1817 - 2017. Another 2017 double ducat features the design that was used after 1986. The first gold ducat was struck in Holland under the United Provinces in 1586. The first double ducat was struck in Friesland in 1612. The tradition was continued by the Dutch Kingdom.The Proof finish coins can be purchased through a pre-sale campaign till May. After that, the mintage will be set to the number of orders received. Dutch ducat standard is of .983 fine gold. The 3.494 gms single Ducat can be purchased for $269.75 and the 6.988 gms double ducat for $469.75. There is an added shipping and handling charge as well.
