Gold Mohur of Akbar Sold For INR 90,000

Jalal-Ud-din Muhammad Akbar was the third ruler of Mughal dynasty in India. He succeeded his father Humayun in the year 1556 AD and ruled until his death in 1605. He sat on throne when he was just 13 years old. After defeating Hemu, a Hindu general of Sur dynasty in the Second Battle of Panipat Akbar reacquired the Delhi throne and established the Mughal rule again.He issued coins with the ‘Kalima’ which had the name of the emperor, with the name of mint (with or without an Epithet) and Hijri date on the obverse and ‘Kalima’ with the name of four caliphs on the reverse.
This coin which weighs around 10.5g, minted in Fathpur was sold for INR 90,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 7th November 2014. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of Akbar with Hijri Date 986 within foliated border. While the reverse of the coin in inscribed with Kalima within eight foil. .
