2017-05-11 Thu
Hey, all… Hope you all are in touch with our ongoing series of Incarnations of Lord Vishnu on Earth. Till now we saw the six different avatars of lord Vishnu and today we will be discussing the seventh one.Among all the Avatars of Lord Vishnu, Rama is the most well known to everyone. His actions and stories are on the minds of the people giving a deep understanding of Hindu dharma. Every Hindu devotee considers Rama to be a significant figure. Rama remains one of the most iconic deities in Hindu culture.
The story of the Ramayana is pretty well known around the world and the story of Rama’s wife, Sita, kidnapped by a demon and rescued by Rama and Hanuman.
The given stamp is issued by India Post to commemorate Jayadeva’s Geeta Govinda, the tiny stamp perfectly depicts the Rama’s story.
Since we know this, we won’t dwell into this further. But we have brought a small story to tell you as for why the squirrels got those stripes behind their back!
So this how the story goes...Rama wanted to cross the bridge to Lanka in order to save Sita from Ravana's clutches. The sea god, Samudra told Rama to build a bridge across the sea.
All the monkeys got busy building the bridge by placing boulders. A tiny squirrel was watching everything from his burrow. He decided to help Rama. He began picking sand and scattered twigs and scurried back and forth from the shore to the sea. Little by little the squirrel had gathered an entire heap.
Rama noticed the dedication of this tiny creature. Picking it up on his palm, he warmly stroked the animal with his fingers. Since then, it is believed that squirrels have lines on their body.
Hmmm… interesting isn’t it? We are sure that you didn't know about this.
