This Court-fee stamp was issued by the princely state of Alirajpur.This princely state was founded in 1437 by Anand Deo. The royal house of Alirajupur links its lineage to the Rajput of the Rathore clan. This princely state of British India was under the administration of Bhopawar agency which was the subdivision of central Indian agency.
Like all other princely states during British raj, Alirajpur also issued Court-fee stamps to collect revenue within the state borders. The rulers of this state hold the title of raja after 1911 before that they were title as Ranas.
In 1947, Alirajpur state acceded to the union of India and was incorporated into the new state of Madhya Bharat later on called Madhya Pradesh in 1956.
