Gold Pagoda of Aurangzeb Sold for INR 78,000

In the year 1573, the Sultan of Bijapur Ali Adil Shah captured Dharwad. Later Ali Adil Shah built a fort there known as Manna Killa, which increased the strategic importance of Bijapur and the beauty of which attracted Aurangzeb to captured Dharwad.In the year 1685, the fort of Bijapur was captured by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb by defeating Sultan of Bijapur Sikandar Adil Shah. The Siege of Bijapur was one of the longest military campaigns led by the Mughals, which was lasted for 15 months until the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb personally arrived to organize a victory.
This gold pagoda was issued by him after the capture of Dharwad. The obverse side of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king with the AH date 1099 written at the bottom within the circle and reverse side of the coin is inscribed with the mint name Nasirabad and Regnal year 32.
