Rare Flowing Hair Dollars From the Blue Moon Collection

A 1794 Flowing Hair dollar, belonging to the Blue Moon Collection, graded About Uncirculated 58+ with a green CAC. sticker was sold at Stack’s Bowers Galleries Baltimore Expo auctions for $910,625. This rare coin entered the market after 40 long years. Another 1793 Flowing Hair, Chain cent, Very Fine Details, Scratch was sold for $8,225.1793 Flowing Hair, Chain cents are mostly struck on not-so-perfect planchets. This one has two parallel planchet errors on the obverse. It also has a big die break indicating that it as a Sheldon 4 variety. Both the errors were present when the coin was struck. The scratches became a part of the coin later. A similar coin with no errors is valued at $30,000. Nevertheless, the offered coin has very fine details and is extremely hard to find.
