2017-04-26 Wed

10 Sesquicentennial maple-leaf-shaped commemorative stamps celebrating important events in Canadian history will be revealed from 27th April to 1st June. The release is a part of the 150th-anniversary celebrations of the country.

The venues for each of these releases are chosen to highlight the story behind the achievement, event or milestone that the stamp commemorates.

The stamps would be revealed by celebs like country music star, a famous architect, successful business leaders, community activists, athletes and an astronaut. For the first time ever Canada Post will be issued stamps which are shaped like maple leaves. Along with the stamps, videos talking about the events or personalities will also be released.

The topics have been carefully chosen by Canada Post Stamp Advisory Committee consisting of 12 members who are historians, archivists, graphic designers, philatelists etc.
