Big Silver Rabbit by Canadian Mint

The fourth coin belonging to the Big Coins series from the Royal Canadian Mint was released to celebrate the nation’s 150th anniversary of Confederation. The series consists of large 5-ounce gold-plated .9999 fine silver versions of some special designs.The latest coin features Alex Colville’s running rabbit. Colville’s designs were featured on all denominations from cent to $1, issued for circulation in 1967. Many commemorative coins have featured the same designs after that. The coin has selective gold plating on the rabbit and along the rim. These popular designs appeared 50 years ago and are now much larger on the coins belonging to this series. The original 1967 Centennial coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by sculptor Arnold Machin is also featured.
The 5-cent 65.25 millimetres coin has a mintage limit of 2,150 pieces and can be purchased for $399.95 U.S.
