Three rare About Uncirculated 1793 Liberty Cap large cents were offered by The Pogue V auction, one of which was sold for $376,000 on 31st March.

Last year, the finest known (Proof 68) 1804 Draped Bust dollar and the only known 1822 Capped Head gold $5 half eagle did not reach its expected bids. The Dexter 1804 dollar offered on 31st March 31 in Pogue V sold at $3.29 million lower than its estimated value.

The About Uncirculated 1793 Liberty Cap cents have been sold many times recently, devaluing its real rarity. Three of them were offered this time together. The same coin was sold for $282,000 at Stack’s Bowers’ January 2013 Cardinal Collection auction, graded PCGS AU-53 with a green Certified Acceptance Corp. sticker.
