The Royal Canadian Mint issued a special 99.99% fine silver coin on 5th April to pay homage to soldiers who fought for Canadian Corps 100 years ago in the Battle of Vimy Ridge. The Allied victory saw the end of the First World War. The coin was revealed at the Canadian War Museum.

The reverse depicts a scene from the war with artillery fire, creeping barrage, approaching Vimy Ridge on the horizon. A close up of a Canadian soldier is shown in the foreground. Selective gold plating is shown on the soldier's uniform. The obverse features a portrait of King George V who was Canada's monarch during First World War.

The mintage limit of the coin is 10,000 and each coin costs $112.95. A two-dollar circulation coin to observe the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge will be launched this fall.
