Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip will celebrate their Platinum Wedding anniversary in November this year. Pobjoy Mint has received exclusive approval from the Queen to feature a duel-effigy of her and Prince Philip together on special coins.

13-year-old Queen met Prince Philip for the first time at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. They kept exchanging letters and finally got engaged in 1947 when the Queen was 21 years old. They got married in November 1947. King George VI died five years later at the age of 56 and Philip was crowned as Prince. Ever since then, the couple dedicatedly served their royal duties with a sense of humour and immense love for each other.

A photograph of the couple taken at the 1954 Goodwood Races is featured on Falkland Islands coins. They met each other after a three-week long separation since Prince Philip had gone to Canada for serving in the Royal Air Force after he had learnt to fly a year before. They watched the Queen’s horse win the first race excitedly! A picture of the couple arriving at St Paul's Cathedral on 15th June 2006 for thanksgiving on the Queen's 80th birthday is depicted on British Indian Ocean Territory coins. A picture of the couple taken at Buckingham Palace in 2005 is depicted on British Virgin Islands coins. The Queen passed Prince Philip in uniform when she suddenly giggles in the picture. A portrait taken on the Queen’s 90th Birthday around Easter at Windsor Castle is depicted on South Georgia / South Sandwich Islands coins.
