50th Anniversary of Barbados Celebrated on New Banknotes
2017-03-29 Wed
The Central Bank of Barbados will release $50 banknotes featuring the country’s official "50th anniversary" logo. Officials chose the $50 note for the new design because of the appropriate denomination that matches with the golden jubilee celebration and because of the fact that it features a portrait of Barbados’s Father of Independence, the Right Excellent Errol Barrow. The reverse features a photo of Independence Square in Bridgetown. The new note features a “Barbados 50” logo and the security features have been retained like the watermark image of Errol Barrow, the bars near the centre of the note still shift from red and green, the holographic foil patch etc. Two limited-edition "50th anniversary" coins will also be released to celebrate the same occasion. The new notes will be put into circulation on 21st November.
