The finest known undated (1831 to 1834) MS 63 C. Bechtler $2.50 pioneer gold coin with CAC sticker sold for $123,375 at Kagin’s auction that was held along with the American Numismatic Association National Money Show in Orlando, Fla.Collector Dr. Christopher Allan started collecting Southern gold Dahlonega mint coins in 1980 when he fell in love with a Bechtler coin. The coin offered features a beautiful crude punch when modern coins today look too perfect to be good.
