Pedigree Coin of Gujarat Sultan Nasir Al-Din Ahmad Shah I

This coin was issued by the Sultan of Gujarat, Ahmad Shah I. Full name of Ahmad Shah I was Nasir-Al-Din Ahmad Shah I, his reign begins from 1411 to 1442 AD. When Ahmad Shah I sat on the throne he faced the rebellion from his uncle Firuz Khan. Ultimately Firuz Khan surrendered to him.Ahmad Shah I issued coins in gold, silver, and copper. Gold coins issued by him are extremely rare, silver coins issued by him are rare, and copper coins issued by him are common. Copper coins issued by him can be divided into three series:-
I) Coins without a mint name and without a date.
II) Coins with mint name and with the legend with the ruler’s name ‘Laqab’.
III) Coins with mint name and with the legend ‘Al-Sultan Al-Azam’.
One of the earliest known copper coin issued by him is dated AH 813; Apart from this, the other known earliest coin reported is AH 823.
This silver pedigree tanka issued by him was sold for INR 1,00,000 at Oswal Auction. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Al-Sultan Al-Azam Nasir Al-Dunya Wa’l Din Abul Fath’ and reverse of the coin inscribed as ‘Ahmad Shah Bin Muhammad Shah Bin Muzaffar Shah Khulidat Khilafatahu’ within a square, date written in the margin.
