This Gold Nazarana 1/3rd Mohur was issued during the reign of Raja Sir Harindar Singh of Faridkot in 1932 AD.

Faridkot is a municipal council and a small city in the state of Punjab today. But prior to independence, a large part of this district was under the mighty rule of Maharaja of Faridkot. The rich history of Faridkot goes long back to the Indus valley civilization sites that are found in the Rupnagar district.

In 1803 this state was under the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh of the Sikh Empire. But later in 1809, it came under the British influence. The last ruler of Faridkot LL. Raja Sir Harindar Singh issued this Nazarana Mohur. The obverse flan of this coin depicts the bust of Maharaja with a divided legend in Roman script “H.H. Raja Sir Harindar Singh Brar Bans Bahadur”. The reverse flan of this coin depicts the Court of Arms of Faridkot state with a date in the exergue.

After independence when the British left India they abandoned their Subsidiary alliance with the Princely States. So the Maharaja of Faridkot State decided to become a part of Patiala & East Punjab State Union in 1948 and later on acceded his state to the new Union of India.
