2017-03-20 Mon
Fake $50 movie prop notes were found in Alaska, used by a Walmart employee in Florida who was asked to count them. The middle 76 notes in a $10,000 pack of $100 bills had a different thickness, texture and had a text FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY. It was marked as “do not use” by the store manager. The crime was caught on camera when the woman exchanged the real notes with fake ones. She was arrested on charges of grand theft and obtaining property by fraud.
These notes are used as props in the entertainment industry as movie and television companies were prohibited to use real notes. Many collectors are also interested in collecting older prop money.
