Roosevelt Error Nail Dime Realizes $42,300 At Tampa Auction
2016-01-09 Sat
A rare Roosevelt Error Dime struck onto a nail was up for sale at the Tampa auction held by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions where it realised $42,300. It was graded MS65 PCGS and was a zinc-coated nail erroneously struck at the mint but escaped circulation. Our previous article reported that the undated coin was estimated to fetch $10,000. This error coin, however, is not the only one to be struck by a nail. In the 1970’s, a few cents struck on nails were discovered. There are thought to be around six such errors existing worldwide.Latest News
