Sale of 2017 Founding Fathers Set Begins

2017-03-14 Tue

America’s Founding Fathers 2017 Currency set is being offered for sale from today onwards. It comprises of Series 2013 $1 and $2 notes from Federal Reserve Bank of New York. George Washington has featured on the $1 note and Thomas Jefferson on $2 notes after small-sized currency notes were introduced in 1928. The notes have the same serial numbers starting with 2017 and come packaged in a protective cover.

25 sets can be ordered per household from 14th to 20th March and these restrictions will go away from 21st March. The product limit is 5,000 items and each set costs $21.95. Discounts are available for bulk orders and the set will be offered for sale only in 2017.

One of the Washington portraits is inspired by Gilbert Stuart’s work that featured on silver certificates and US notes of 1923. The Jefferson portrait was depicted on $2 United States note from Series 1869-1917.

The Series year date on US notes does not change every year. It happens only when there is a big redesign or when a new U.S. Treasury secretary is appointed. When a new United States treasurer is appointed, a letter is added. That’s the reason why these notes are dated 2013.
