Five different 2018 World War I Armed Forces silver medals will be struck during the 2018 World War I American Veterans Centennial silver dollar commemorative coin program. Details of when the winning designs for the silver dollar coin will be disclosed are not yet clear. The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee will consider the proposed designs on 15th March and the Commission of Fine Arts slated to review the same on 16th March.The five World War I Armed Forces themed silver medals do not come under any official Act and the Mint can issue them without congressional approval. The medals were originally imagined in bronze. A two-phase, open design competition for the World War I American Veterans Centennial Commemorative Coin was announced on 1st February 2016. The final date for submission was 16th August 2016. The designs and plaster models were to be reviewed by a seven-member jury belonging to CCAC and CFA, with the Treasury secretary or their designee as chairman.
