Younger Looking Harriet Tubman Portrait Considered for New $20 Note

The new $20 is going to feature the abolitionist Harriet Tubman. Very few of her actual photos are known and all of them are taken when she was older. A new photo of a 45 years old Tubman was identified by historian Kate Clifford Larson.The photo will be auctioned by Swann Galleries in New York on 30th March in a Printed & Manuscript African with an estimate of $20,000 to $30,000.
In 2015, a group named Women on 20s conducted a public poll and Harriet Tubman as the favoured candidate. On 20th April 2016, the Treasury Department officially stated on behalf of Treasury Secretary Lew. Harriet Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson on the obverse of the $20 Federal Reserve note and Jackson will be moved to the reverse.
