Royal Canadian Mint Issues T-Rex Silver Coin

The Royal Canadian Mint has issued a $20 silver coin featuring the ‘King of Dinosaurs’, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The 99.99% pure silver coins will be sold at their legal tender face value.The obverse depicts an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, designed by Susanna Blunt along with the inscriptions ‘Elizabeth’ ‘D. G. Regina’, and ‘Canada’ in the outer ring. The reverse showcases a Tyrannosaurus Rex charging with an open jaw and jutting teeth. The year of issue ‘2016’ is inscribed to its left. Below it are the inscriptions ‘Fine Silver 9999 Argent Pur’ ’20 Dollars’.
The coin weighs 7.96 grams and measures 27 mm in diameter. It has a serrated edge and a mintage of 300,000 pieces.
