2017-02-15 Wed
24 million 1,000 Nepalese rupee notes have been printed and delivered by China Banknote Printing and Minting Corp. The quality is better than the older notes that were printed by other Indonesian, French and Australian companies. The cost of printing is less than half of the earlier notes as well. Timely delivery of the notes was important for the Government to grant aid to the victims of the 2015 earthquake. The notes will be delivered in three batches, the first of which (worth 84 million) has already been delivered. The Chinese company won the tender to print these notes in August 2016. The company had also printed Nepal’s 100 rupee notes.
