Brave Averting of the 2016 Turkish Coup Remembered on Coin

A circulating commemorative ringed-bimetallic 1-lira coin was issued recently by Turkey to honour a successful defence against a coup attempt on 15th July 2016. The coup was planned by a part of the Turkish Armed Forces against state institutions, the government and President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an. This was caused due to a disagreement between members of the Army who were a part of the Peace at Home Council.Almost 300 brave people fought and died while averting this coup d’etat. The obverse features the flag of Turkey raised by a hand and the common 1-lira design is depicted on the reverse.
