The latest 25-cent belonging to the United States Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters commemorating Effigy Mounds National Monument was launched on 6th February. 40-coin rolls and 100-coin bags containing circulating quality Effigy Mounts quarters produced at Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco are also available.

13 designs were presented for the reverse, which were reviewed by the concerned departments. The tweaked winning design created by Richard Masters and sculpted by Renata Gordon, features a top angle view of mounds in the Marching Bear Group. Inscriptions on the reverse include “EFFIGY MOUNDS,” “IOWA,” “2017,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

The obverse features a portrait of George Washington, which is common to all coins released in this series. Other inscriptions on the obverse feature UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and QUARTER DOLLAR and the Mintmarks ‘P’, ‘D’ or ‘S’ for Philadelphia, Denver or San Francisco.
