1976 Washington Quarter Dollar Error Coin Auctioned
2017-02-04 Sat
A 1976 Washington quarter dollar struck through cloth on the obverse, graded MS-66 was sold for $881.25 at the Heritage Auctions held at the 2017 Florida United Numismatists convention, Fort Lauderdale. This kind of an error occurs when something comes between a die and a planchet when the coin is struck. Probably, in this case, it was a polishing cloth. Other such errors are caused when a wire or a wood comes in between. The cloth's texture is clearly visible on more than half of the obverse and the bust.Latest News
