NYINC World Paper Money Sale that was held in January 2017 fared extremely well, ushering a new hope in the field of banknote collecting. Many banknotes fetched more than their estimated value. Dr. Magid Al-Kimawi’s collection comprised of 50 and 100 Tomans notes from the Imperial Bank of Persia. One of them was sold for $37,600 USD and a 100 Tomans was sold for an impressive $49,350! Some of these notes came to the market only recently but they were offered at an auction for the very first time.An Iranian book with 36 Iranian specimens was sold for $30,550. This shows that there are many collectors who are interested in Iranian currency. A 25 Riyals from Qatar and Dubai in a PMG 25 was sold for $17,625. One of a Burundi PCGS Gem 65 PPQ note sold for $10, 575 and a 1,000 Francs, brought $9,400. An uncanceled Zanzibar banknote was sold for a whopping $129,250!
