Mahabharata on Indonesian Stamps

Mahabharata is one of the greatest Indian epics along with Ramayana. Written in the form of a poem it is a tale of five brothers and the values of Dharma and Satya. It depicts many virtues of life through the central plot besides having shorter myths and legends of Savitri, Draupadi, etc. It reveals the evolution of Hinduism, the final Dharmayudh at Kurukshetra, the victory of Pandavas and the avatar of Lord Vishnu- Krishna.

Hinduism has also influenced countries like Indonesia and Malaysia. Pos Indonesia issued this commemorative souvenir sheet of the Pandava brothers Bima, Arjuna. Yudhistira, Nakula, Sadewa besides Pandawa Lima and Gunungan. Each stamp has a face value of 5000 Indonesian Rupiah each and was released on 18th June 2012.
