2017-01-27 Fri
Lewis Carroll, born on 27th January 1832 gave us one of the most loved fantasy stories of all time- Alice in Wonderland (1865). Not stopping there, he gave us another beautiful sequel to it: Through the Looking-Glass (1871).The story begins when Alice while playing chess pretends her cats are the White Queen and the Red Queen. She then looks at her mirror wondering what life would be at the other end of it. And voila! She finds herself on the other side of the mirror, in an exact mirrored replica of her house except everything has come to life. What follows are her amusing and exciting adventures in this new land similar to that of a chessboard!
United States Postal Service released this 63 British Penny commemorative stamp of Through the Looking-Glass on 21st July 1998. The stamp shows Alice and the Red King running through the forest and a rocking horse behind.
