Australia Post has been awarded first prize in the “World’s Best Offset Stamp” category in Nexophil awards held at Spain.The winning stamp issue commemorated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Andrew Barton “Banjo” Paterson, a great author of Australia. The issue acknowledges the Banjo’s iconic bush-themed ballads, which are considered to be the authentic rural identity of Australia.
The set of four stamps were designed by Jamie and Leanne Tufrey featuring Banjo’s following poetic works: Clancy of the Overflow, The Man from Snowy River, Waltzing Matilda and Mulga Bill’s Bicycle. This stamp issue will remind all Australians of Banjo Paterson’s important contribution to early Australian literature.
