An 1880 90-page leather album with a full type set of Confederate currency 1880 was sold for $99,875 at the Heritage currency auction which took place from 5th to 8th January at the Florida United Numismatists convention in Fort Lauderdale. Made by New York City coin dealer C.H. Bechtel, the album was sold to collectors for from $3 to $5 which equalled the most expensive Confederate notes in those times. It contained the Republic of Texas and Colonial Bank of Canada notes which had an estimate of almost $80,000.

Four notes reached the four-figure mark and 30 crossed $20,000. The auction made a total of $6,522,800. The auction offered an equal number of large-size and small-size notes, fractional currencies, encased postage, and more than 500 national bank notes, all of which fared extremely well.
