“Grief destroys one’s courage. It destroys one’s learning. It destroys one’s everything. There is no enemy greater than grief.”
Ramayana, one of the greatest epic poetries of India was written by Sage Valmiki. Having more than 24,000 verses, it is one of the largest epics of the world literature. It is a poem of Dharma, the constant battle between good and evil, the concept of virtue, truth, respect, honor and living an ideal life.

The story is about Rama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu and the Prince of Kosala Kingdom; his wife Sita, an avatar of Goddess Lakshmi and Princess of Videha and Ravana, the demon King of Lanka. Sita is abducted by Ravana and what follows is a battle and defeat of Ravana by Rama, Sita’s rescue, return to Ayodhya, Sita’s exile, the birth of Lava and Kusha and the lessons of living an ideal life by Rama through this journey.

This 30 Indonesian Rupiah commemorative stamp of Sita and Rama was issued by Post Indonesia on 31st August 1971.
